The Day I Almost Let Someone Else’s Money Make Me Forget My Own Progress
This blog has been repurposed from a voice journal on November 19th, 2025.
I took the time to feel my feelings and then I got over it. Moping around and comparing myself to them isn’t going to help me get to my goals any faster.
What Actually Pulled Me Back
My partner also reminded me that I wouldn’t want to be that guy even if I had his money because he’s not a great person.
And that helped partially. Something else helped.
I had to pull out my Small Wins app. I needed to see all the progress I’d been making.
It honestly made me feel better.
I m so much farther along than I was 2 months or even 2 weeks ago.
I have proof in my phone that tells me that I got this. That I can do this. I have encouragement in my phone. I have compliments that tell me I’m a bad betch. And I’m thankful for myself for seeing my own efforts.
It’s hard to argue with that.
Getting Clear On My Message
I spent most of yesterday on buyer personas. Which doesn’t sound like much. But it was actually huge once I got into it.
I watched this video on YouTube about buyer personas for social media managers. And it clicked. It’s not just about knowing your target audience. It’s about knowing where they are in their buyer’s journey.
A buyer persona is basically a detailed picture of exactly who you’re making content for or selling to. Not just demographics. But what they’re struggling with. What they need. Where they are in figuring out if they need your thing.
The buyer’s journey is broken into three stages: Awareness, Consideration, and the Decision stage.
Awareness is when someone knows they have a problem but they don’t know about your solution yet. They’re just starting to look for answers.
Consideration is when they’re evaluating different solutions. They know what’s out there and they’re comparing options.
Decision is when they’re ready to pick something and commit.
Claude broke each stage down for my own branding so beautifully for me. Three personas. ONLY three people I’m making content for.
- The burnt out professional. (That’s me)
- Someone in therapy. (I need to get more specific about this one but that’s the general idea)
- A student or early achiever
That’s it. I only make content for those three people. Nobody else. And right now they’re all at awareness. So I only have to make awareness content for the time being.
This just makes everything so much easier because I’m not making content for everyone. I’m only making content for one to three people.
Since Small Wins is not widely known, everyone right now is in the awareness stage. So I only have to make awareness content for now.
Why This Matters So Much to Me
——–Later that same day——
I’m so happy.
I’m so happy that Small Wins, is doing the exact thing that it was made for.
Reminding you of the little things you’re doing every single day.
I’ve notice I’ve been able to bounce back from my sadness/self doubt thoughts so much quicker than I used to. What a beautiful thing.
I’m very proud of myself.
I’ve had two people (I don’t even know) tell me the app has helped them. Two.
That’s enough. That’s enough to keep going.
And I want more people to experience that too.
