WakeCheck Privacy Policy
WakeCheck Privacy Policy
Effective Date: November 28, 2025 · Last Updated: September 24, 2026
Simple summary: We don’t collect your name, email, phone number, or location.
We keep only what the app needs to work: an anonymous device ID and, if you turn on alerts, a push notification token and the restaurants you saved. None of it is tied to who you are, and we never sell it.
1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how KAYJO, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in the WakeCheck mobile app for iOS and Android (“the App”).
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your location
- Your contacts or photos
- Your search queries or the restaurants you view
- Your advertising identifier
3. Information We Collect
Anonymous device ID
When you accept the Terms of Service, the App creates a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your device’s app identifier. We can’t turn it back into the original identifier, and it doesn’t reveal who you are. We store it with:
- The Terms version you accepted and when
- Your platform (iOS or Android) and App version
- The IP address the request came from
- Your answers to the optional onboarding question about how you plan to use the App, if you choose any
We use this only to keep a record that the Terms were accepted and to understand, in total, what people want from the App.
Push notification token (only if you turn on alerts)
If you allow notifications, Apple or Google gives the App a push token, a random ID that lets us send alerts to your device. To send the alerts you asked for, we store:
- Your push token and platform (iOS or Android)
- The restaurants on your Watchlist and which folder each is in
- Your alert settings
- The last inspection score you were alerted about for each place
- Alerts held during quiet hours until they’re sent
The push token isn’t linked to your anonymous device ID, your name, or any account. We use it only to send the notifications you chose.
4. Information Stored Only on Your Device
This stays on your device and we can’t see it:
- Viewing history
- App settings
- Your Watchlist (a copy is sent to us only if you turn on alerts, as described above)
5. How We Use Information
We use the information above only to:
- Send the inspection alerts and weekly digest you chose
- Record that the Terms of Service were accepted
- Keep the App working and prevent abuse
We do not use it for advertising, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent it.
6. Third-Party Services
Push notifications (Expo, Apple, Google)
Alerts are sent through Expo’s push notification service, which passes them to Apple Push Notification service (iPhone) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android). These services receive your push token and the text of each alert so they can deliver it. Their privacy policies apply:
Hosting
Our servers and database are run by hosting providers that store the information in section 3 on our behalf. They may not use it for their own purposes.
Google Places API
The App uses the Google Places API to show restaurant ratings, photos, and contact information. Google may collect information about these requests; see the Google Privacy Policy.
Wake County data sources
Restaurant inspection data comes from public Wake County sources, including data.wake.gov (Wake County Open Data) and public.cdpehs.com (Wake County inspection scores). These are publicly available government databases.
7. How Long We Keep It and How to Delete It
| Push token and Watchlist copy | Deleted from our servers when you turn off notifications in the App (Profile → Notifications, or the bell on your Watchlist). If you delete the App or block notifications, your token stops working and we delete it the next time an alert can’t be delivered. | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Email us to have them deleted. | |||
| Data on your device | Deleted when you delete the App. |
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Analytics and Tracking
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising or tracking SDKs, or crash reporting tools. We don’t track what you search for or view.
10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The App does not use cookies or cross-app tracking technologies.
11. Data Security
We keep as little as possible, and none of it identifies you by name. What we do store is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and kept in access-controlled databases. Data on your device is as secure as your device, so we recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system updated.
12. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Turn alerts off anytime in the App, which deletes your push token and Watchlist copy from our servers
- Block notifications in your phone’s Settings
- Email us to ask what we have for your device or to have it deleted
Because we don’t know who you are, we may ask for your device’s platform and roughly when you installed the App to find your records.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If we change what we collect, we will update this policy and its date, notify you in the App, and ask for your consent before collecting any personal information.
